Taking inspiration from a KABUTO (helmet) specially created for the MR-G series, the MRG-B2000SH evokes the noble spirit and aesthetic sensibility of a samurai commander. Representing the helmet’s maedate (crest), each bezel features the image of a dragon hand carved by a metalsmith highly skilled in the technique of chasing. The case and band, cast with specially-produced metal dies, simulate the rugged look of rusted steel, with finishes of brown and blue aged IP for a time-worn appearance. Casio has teamed up with specialists in traditional arts to unite proud Japanese craftsmanship and advanced technology.

Metal Bezel Carved with Ascending Dragon
The Shougeki-Maru’s bezel evokes a helmet’s crest. Highly skilled in the technique of chasing, metalsmith Masao Kobayashi has carved the image of a mythical dragon on each. With his hand carving, no two watches are exactly alike.
Masao Kobayashi
Third-generation metal craftsman working in Shiga Prefecture’s city of Otsu. Active as a metalsmith using the chasing technique as well, with experience studying carving in Kyoto. Works with a wide range of decorative metal crafts, including crafting shrine and temple fixtures, restoring historic cultural assets, crafting tea ceremony implements and engaging in artistic craftwork. One of Japan’s premier artisanal metalworkers.
Forged Bezel and Band with Rusted Steel Texture
The Shougeki-Maru's bezel and band impart its textural feel to it. Forged using a sand die by Masanao Kikuchi, they reproduce the rugged look of rusted steel. A highly-skilled technique using a sand die, with brushes and misting tools, is required to bring out the unique textured finish in the metal's surface.
Masanao Kikuchi
15th-generation craftsman for Kikuchi Hojudo, founded in 1604 as a dedicated iron caster for the lord of Yamagata Castle. Received instruction from his uncle, a Living National Treasure, from a young age and apprenticed under his father, the 14th-generation Masanao Kikuchi. His works, creatively innovative even as they preserve traditional techniques, are highly esteemed throughout Japan and the world.
Blue-Aged IP
Titanium treated with a deep-hardening process is finished with layers of both brown and blue IP. Removal of the blue IP from the convex surface produces the watch’s unique look, with its rusted steel texture and prominent ascending-dragon image. The coloration of the watch also creates the look of the navy blue ”KON ITO ODOSHI” * used in Japanese helmets and armor.

Recrystallized Titanium Case
A heat treatment applied to the titanium creates a unique crystallized pattern effect. The combination of deep-hardening treatment and brown AIP®* offers enhanced resistance to abrasion.

Clad Guard Structure
Integration of the crown/buttons and guard parts offers improved shock resistance. αGEL®* inserted into the crown helps to absorb shocks.
